The New Adventures of Batman is an animated series produced by Filmation in 1977 featuring the DC Comics superheroes Batman and Robin, and Batgirl. In The New Adventures of Batman, the "Dynamic Duo" fights crime in Gotham City, encountering the classic Batman rogues gallery as well as some original villains. Complicating matters is Bat-Mite, a well meaning imp from another dimension called Ergo, who considers himself Batman's biggest fan. As a result, he wears a variant of Batman’s costume and attempts to help him, only to often create more problems (although he is occasionally an asset). Missing is Alfred, the faithful butler of Batman's alter ego Bruce Wayne.

Together, Joker, Clayface, Catwoman and Penguin launch a simultaneous assault on Gotham City, and then Batman and Robin when they turn up to stop them. While this battle rages on, another villain known as Zarbor, who is another imp from Bat-Mite's home planet of Ergo, steals all of the Earth's nuclear power plants.

Penguin creates the Crime-Slime, which has the capacity to turn anyone evil. He uses it on Bat-Mite, turning him from a harmless imp into a villainous little monster. Whilst trying to return him back to normal, Batman and Robin must also deal with the Penguin and his new creation before any more damage is caused.

Clayface recruits a circus acrobat with a remarkable resemblance to Robin, and together, they pose as Batman and Robin, in order to steal an oil-locating device. The real Caped Crimefighters must prove themselves innocent, and then defeat their doppelgangers.

Mr. Freeze is very annoyed that he is not considered one of Batman's most powerful foes, and so set the record straight by becoming Public Enemy Number 1, he creates some incredibly turbulent weather conditions. Batman has to not only find a way to stop Freeze's plan, but has to make sure that no people or property are affected by the cold conditions.

A jailbreak occurs at Gotham State Penitentiary, and the guards soon discover that is was the Joker. He vows revenge on Batman for his imprisonment, and promises to make him the laughing stock of Gotham City. In the meantime Batman, testing out his new helium spray that is capable of making any object float on the air, is contacted by Commissioner Gordon who alerts Batman to a challenge from the Joker. The Dynamic Duo soon spot a large fire at the junkyard, and suspecting that it is the work of the Joker, go and investigate it. There, they find another clue from the Joker which leads them to a famous Spanish singer, currently performing the famous opera Pagliacci, about a clown. On the opera stage, Batman appears and proceeds to spray laughing gas over the audience, including Commissioner Gordon. In reality, it was the Joker in disguise, but when the real Batman turns up at the Opera House, he is soundly arrested. He quickly proves his innocence, and then proceeds to the Gotham City Zo

At the Gotham pier, an individual known as the Chameleon organises a meeting of gangsters who have been defeated time and again by Batman and Robin. He tells them that he himself will be able to get rid of the Dynamic Duo for a price by using his special ability to turn himself into any object imaginable. The Chameleon plans to shut off Gotham Solar Power Plant, and therefore every burglar alarm in the city as well. Bruce and Dick, attempting to enjoy an evening barbecue, despite Bat-Mite's best efforts, soon hear an ear-splitting sound and set off investigate it as Batman and Robin. They trace the sound to the top of a building in the center of town, and run into the Chameleon, who proceeds to battle them. Bat-Mite eventually arrives, and together they are able to capture the Chameleon temporarily, but he turns into a rocket and escapes. The gangsters demand their money back from the Chameleon after he fails to capture the Dynamic Duo, but he promises them that his next plan will not

The Penguin opens up a crime school, teaching teenagers to commit thefts for him. Eventually, Batman's utility belt itself is stolen, and he and Robin have to contend with the Penguin without it. The Caped Crusaders have to retrieve Batman's belt full of gadgets and defeat the Penguin and his students.

A super-villain from another planet, known as Electro, reduces Batman and Robin in size using a shrinking ray. Then, he uses a mind-controlling gas on his two small captives, and orders them to steal some top-secret plans from the government, Batman and Robin have to snap out of their hypnotized state, and figure out a way to return to their normal size.

Together, Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Bat-Mite engage in underwater battles with Professor Bubbles in order to stop him from taking over the world.

Sweetooth, a sugar-obsessed villain, breaks into Gotham City's water supply and replaces all the water there with chocolate syrup. Batman attempts to deal with the criminal, but is pressurised by his ever-increasing insane demands. Batman has to restore the water supply to the city before it's time runs out.
