Ten years before the events of episode one, James McCloud and Peppy Hare set out on a top-secret mission to the planet Venom. Meanwhile, a young Fox McCloud stays with Wolf O'Donnell's father, Cael, alongside Wolf and his girlfriend, Fara Phoenix.
Fox McCloud has been captured by a group of Venomian soldiers led by Wolf O'Donnell, and is taken to the neutral Sargasso Space Station as per orders from Andross.
