American Dreamer is a situation comedy which aired in the U.S. on NBC as part of its 1990-91 lineup. American Dreamer stars Robert Urich as fictional character Tom Nash, formerly a high-powered network correspondent who was forced to reassess his priorities following the death of his wife. He decided to give up his career in order to spend more time with his children. To do this, he moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he supported his family by contributing a column about "real people" to a Chicago newspaper. His editor, Joe Baines, felt Tom was completely wasting his talents and drove out from Chicago weekly to attempt to convince Tom to return the world of "hard news". Other characters included Tom's zany secretary, Lillian Abernathy, and a friendly waitress at Tom's favorite local diner, Holly Baker. This program was extremely low-key. Tom sometimes "broke the fourth wall" to address the viewers directly about his thoughts regarding the situations he encountered. This philosophizing gained only a small audience and the program was cancelled at midseason, although selected episodes were rerun the following summer.
Danny and Tommy get arrested for hunting. Holly and Rachel watch soap operas.
Rachel and Danny decide to call it quits yet again but when they see eachother at the same diner (each with a date) they fall in love all over again.
Danny and Rachel have an argument over where to eat, Then they realize there not even hungry at all!
Rachel writes a newspaper article and the paper offers her a daily column called ""mother knows best""
Tommy and Holly go camping with their friend Adrienne. Adrienne is trying to take Tommy from Holly. Danny and Rachel enjoy a weekend to themseleves.
Danny feels left out when the family forgets to wake him up to go out for breakfast.
Rachel and Holly enter a bake off.
Rachel lets Tommy and Holly come home against Danny's wishes.
Danny forces tommy and Holly to move out of the house when he see's his phone and electric bill.
Danny and Rachel decide to call it quits, but when Tommy and Holly show them there wedding pictures they fall in love again.
Joe and Lillian decide to put on a play of wizard of oz for the neighborhood. When the man who plays the wizard suddenly gets ill Danny fills in.
Danny's 50th birthday party. Holly anounces that she is pregnant.
""The Corvette man"" (a crazy man from the neighborhood who constanly is showing off his car) Crashes his car into the Nashes house.
Lillian and Joe invite the Nashes to come to their farm in Wisconsin. Tommy and Holly loose their luggage while Danny and Rachel try to rekindle their romance.
Danny Brings home a stuffed Dodo bird and Rachel doesn't have the heart to tell him how ugly it is.
Danny and Tommy go to a bar where they get more than they bargained for. Rachel and Holly try to spend some time together.
